Longshaw Limber - Derbyshire : 30 miles

Hi there!

This is my log of the Longshaw Limber challenge walk. As promised by the route description I found splendid scenery, haunting moorland, old halls, gritstone edges, a famous village and 4,200ft of ascent! The walk was designed by Paul Pugh to celebrate the Centenary of the National Trust.

Hambleton 'Nobble' with Rievaulx Abbey and the White Horse : 35 miles

Hi there!

This is a log of a variation of the Hambleton Hobble  - a rather super circular walk in the Hambleton Hills of North Yorkshire.

As you will see I modified the original Hambleton Hobble route to include Rievaulx Abbey and The White Horse and returning via the picturesque Cleveland Way.  As I have messed with the original route I have called it the Hambleton Nobble :)

Rowbotham's Result : 50 miles

I did the Rowbotham 50 mile walk event today. I wish I hadn't done a trial of it just a week ago as my feet are now very cross with me! Anyway I had to get round in 16 hours to qualify- I came in 14  hours and 29 mins - so well chuffed with that.

Rowbotham's Round Rotherham : 50 miles

Hello there!

This is a blog of my solo trial walk of the Rowbothams Round Rotherham.
I want to familiarise myself with the route and see if I can really do a 50 mile walk within 16 hours!  This is in preparation for (or fear of) the real event I have entered next weekend 33rd Rowbotham’s Round Rotherham on October 17th.
The reason I really want to do this particular walk is that if I complete the walk in under 16 hours then I qualify to enter next year's LDWA 100 mile event The Dorset 100, and this is almost the last qualifying 50 mile event before then.

Further down this blog you will find a embedded Radio Ballad relating to the Rotherham and Sheffield area that you can listen to The Songs of Steel. It's a brilliant and interesting album.

Hello there !

This is my log of my all-in-one walk of the wonderful Nidderdale Way - that is walking through the night - well quite a bit of the night - as you will see.

Details include GPS/GPX route maps, descriptions and many super photos.

The LYKE WAKE WALK – and the “The Batty Way" : DAY 2 : 21 miles

Hello there !

This is Day two of my adventure - Boggle Hole to Osmotherley via Whitby.

The LYKE WAKE WALK – and the “The Batty Way” : DAY 1 : 40 miles

Hello there !

Like many I had my eye on the Lyke Wake Walk for some time and found it fabulously appealing - a walk that just had to be done - or at least attempted !

There is an active Lyke Wake club - you can read about the walk history, get a badge or attend some of their meetups http://www.lykewake.org/, and there is also the official Lyke Wake company web site http://www.lykewakewalk.co.uk.

The question though for many might be How to do it – as it is not a circular walk and so presents a transport logistics problem to solve!  This post is about how I did it The Batty Way!
